Wow.. what a day!!
We got up at 4 and got showered and ready to go, we got to Julian almost an hour early and just relaxed and napped a bit in the truck (thank goodness for reclining seats :))
Registration started at 6:30 so I got my number and T-shirt and went back to the truck for a while.
Around 7:30 I headed back to the registration area to hang out and stretch a little.
They sent the 10k runners out at 8 and then lined up the 5k runners after that.

And they are off!I did about as well as I expected, but had to walk a little more than i had planned because of the hills.

Headed for the Finish!!
Look at that #508 run!I put in my best effort though and shaved almost 5 minutes of my practice run times. It was a learning experience and a lot of fun, i will definitely be racing again soon.

42.07! a new personal bestAfter the race, we walked up Main street to stretch my poor little sore legs a little and grab some breakfast.
Seriously, if you are ever in Julian, you
need to eat breakfast at
Margarita's , their hashbrowns are to
DIE FOR!
So i ate a HUGE breakfast (2 eggs, 4 slices of bacon, a big pile of the best hashbrowns i have ever eaten and a biscuit with some sausage gravy.... i thought for moment that I had died and gone back to Reynolds) and then we walked back to the truck to head home.
Of course no trip to Julian is complete without some pie, so we stopped in Santa Ysabel the
Julian Pie Company and brought home a dutch apple pie for later.
I got promptly into a hot bath when we got home and then took a short nap, but wanted to get the blog done while the day was fresh in my mind.
